HOLEY SHIP.
HONEST. STRONG. BIG TASTE.
Holey Ship Brewery grew from Chris Larkin’s dream to craft beer that’s honest, flavourful, and a little rough around the edges. This project develops the visual identity and packaging for Holey Ship, a name Chris has carried with him for years. The aim is to build a cohesive system that captures the spirit of his story and his beer, while remaining adaptable across marketing, advertising, merchandise, and the wider business.
INSIGHT.
Inspired by the image of a weathered, well-travelled ship, the identity captures the spirit of Holey Ship through raw, imperfect illustration, reflecting Chris’s values of authenticity, character, and memorable flavour. The ship appears worn and unlikely to keep sailing, yet it does, symbolising resilience and the courage to push forward despite the odds. Completing the story, an illustrated barcode pays tribute to Fungie, the much-loved dolphin that lived of the Irish coast, grounding the brand in place and memories.
STANDING STRONG
THROUGH CHANGES.
The carrier box echoes rising ocean waves, while the ship illustrated on the labels holds its course through them. This contrast reflects a brand that stands strong through change rather than avoiding it.
SLOGAN.
The slogan “Don’t give a ship” is a piece of wordplay—simultaneously playful, rebellious (true to an Irish heart), and perfectly on-theme for Holey Ship, while cleverly avoiding explicit language.
